bicycle route planner — the alps

every pass, planned for your bike.

Alpino plans bike routes across the Alps for the bike you ride — road, gravel, trekking or mountain bike — right in your browser. Fly the route in 3D, then ride it indoors on your smart trainer.

  • Free, no ads
  • No account needed to plan
  • Routing runs on your device

features

from the first click to the last climb.

Plan on the map, check the gradients in 3D, ride it on the trainer and share it with your friends — in one app that runs in the browser.

  • Routing profiles for your bike

Road bike, gravel, trekking, mountain bike, safety-first or simply the shortest way: each profile weighs road types, surfaces and traffic differently, so the route fits the bike you ride.

  • Fly your route in 3D

See the climb before you ride it: terrain from elevation models, aerial imagery, buildings and forests, with the route draped over the mountains. Drive along it at eye height.

  • Ride it indoors

Connect a smart trainer or power meter and ride the route at your own pace: the trainer follows the gradient, the ride is recorded and saved as a FIT file.

  • Ride together

Switch on multiplayer and see other riders on the same roads in the 3D view, live, with their names and jerseys.

  • Save and share

Every route is a link. With a free account, save routes, share them privately, by link or publicly, upload rides from your bike computer and follow other riders.

  • Private by design

Routing runs in your browser on map tiles we build ourselves, so your plans never pass through a routing server. No account needed to plan, no ads, no trackers.

how it works

three clicks to a route.

  1. Click start and destination

Click the map, drag the line to add a via point, drag markers to move them.

  2. Pick a profile

The route, distance and climbing update instantly as you switch profiles or move points.

  3. Fly, ride or share

Open the 3D view, ride it on your trainer, download a GPX, or copy the link.

routing profiles

  • TrekkingBalanced touring: prefers bike infrastructure and quiet roads, tolerates good unpaved paths.
  • Road bikeFast and paved: accepts traffic on main roads, avoids gravel and cobbles.
  • SafetyAvoids motor traffic wherever possible, accepts detours.
  • GravelSeeks out tracks and compacted paths, avoids busy roads.
  • Mountain bikePrefers trails and rough terrain, avoids asphalt.
  • ShortestShortest legal distance, ignoring comfort. Useful as a baseline.

See exactly how each profile weighs roads and surfaces on the profiles page.

indoor training

ride the alps from your living room.

Pick any route, open the 3D view and pedal: your smart trainer sets the resistance from the real gradient, while the landscape scrolls by at your speed. Shift virtual gears with Zwift Play controllers and see other riders on the road when multiplayer is on.

  • Bluetooth smart trainers (FTMS, Tacx FE-C, Wahoo), power meters, heart-rate and cadence sensors

  • ANT+ trainers and browsers without Web Bluetooth through a small bridge app on your computer

  • Virtual shifting with Zwift Play controllers, a gamepad or the keyboard, with haptic feedback

  • Recorded rides stay on your device until you choose to save or upload them
